Artist's Comments

'The Other Woman' is a sort of tramp starship from Rocketship Empires, a traditional RPG that I'm illustrating. Straight digital, and something I started just this morning. I might play with the sky a little bit, there isn't much going on there. Still trying to make my lighting less crappy.

Apologies to everyone who expected some bizarre revelation about my personal life from the title. :P

Edit: I just posted a revised version with a little bit of bluish fill light and some minor detail added. Thanks for all the kind and helpful comments everyone! :)

That is very awesome! Great job! :D

FORD: So how do we find them once we land?
SHEPPARD: Well I’ve been thinking about that too...(A hand sized device appears on the wall beside him, he takes it, looks at it and puts it in his jacket pocket) Now I’m thinking about a nice turkey sandwich.

Fantastic...I love the nautical influence. =)

The revelation is that you think your lighting is 'crappy'. And I thought the ship was the Captain's 'other woman'. =P

I personally think we should take all the world leaders, put them in a bull-pit and let them fight to the death. Then the rest of us can go party.

A man who steals bread is desperate; a man who steals art is pond-scum.

...No one cares about the man in the box...

 Revelation from the title...

I like how it's submarine-ish. Once the ocean's secrets are fully discovered, outerspace really will be the next big mystery. The next 'ocean', if you will.

If you want to try improving your lighting, try deeping some of the subtle shading you've put in here. Or try changing the light source so that you have more opportunities to display the dynamics between the lights and darks. This particular vessel has plenty of grooves and gadgets on it, so it'd be an excellent specimen for toying around with lighting. >:]

Well, some people might have thought it was a personal revelation concerning the decadence and dissipation that rules the life of an artist in the postindustrial west, but yeah you got it right. ;P

The lighting was kind of flat in the original version, but I added a little fill to bring out the form of the ship a bit better.
:iconmalaveldt:
Well, it was only natural when I drew a big metal tube filled with seam...OUCH! (runs for cover)
:iconmalaveldt:
Yeah, you're dead right about the lighting. I ended up changing it in much the way you describe. :)
