Rick's Cafe. Near the Casablanca Spaceport, by way of Interzone and the Library of Babel. An interior illustration for a forthcoming Rocketship Empires: 1936 sourcebook.
April may be the cruelest month, but it does have a peculiar appeal. I dedicate this particular heap of broken images to the memory of old friends and the ways they make things new again.
Note to self: An oblique reference to Borges and the spark of the divine hidden within exhaustive permutation should probably count as mature content, but not in the way that the submission form means.
Haha, evryone is gonna think this is inspired by Bioshock. What they don't know is that steampunk is nothing new, and in fact Bioshock was inspired by old works similar to this! It's like saying that a man looks just like his son!
This is splendid. Nice atmosphere, and anything with art-deco styling really can't go wrong.
One thing though: everything is a little too short. It's fine until you hit that waiter guy's lower torso, and then everything gets squished. The main problem is that his legs are too short, but the little dividing wall and the counter seem to have been shortened as well as a result. If I'm making any sense.
But, hey, its not that big of a problem and everything else is so well done I can easily overlook it.
Very, very cool good sir Nice piece and I dig how your refer to Casablanca.
In regard to comments above, I finally got to play Bioshock myself and I can't say this one particularly comes off like the game's design sense to me, it does have a different feel. Then again I, as you and the poster, know Deco didn't spawn itself from Bioshock, that game is just part of a long tradition with sci-fi
Lazors and mudkipz XD Awesome, I want one!
